How to Use Custom Fields in Automation & Workflows

You can leverage custom fields as triggers or conditions in your automated workflows—e.g., sending an email when a custom “Onboarding Status” field changes.

Step‑by‑Step Instructions

  1. Go to Settings → Automations.

  2. Click + New Workflow.

  3. Under Trigger, choose Field Changed, then select your custom field.

  4. Under Condition, you can refine (e.g., only when value = “Completed”).

  5. Configure your Action (Send Email, Create Task, etc.).

  6. Save and Activate your workflow.

From now on, any change to that custom field will kick off your automation.
