Laywork comes with predefined system roles like “Admin,” “Manager,” and “Employee.” Understanding their access levels helps you decide whether to use them as-is or create custom roles.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Go to Account & Setup → Roles & Permissions.
Review the list of Default Roles.
Click on any default role to view its permissions breakdown.
Note which modules (HR, Finance, CRM, etc.) each role can view, add, edit, or delete.
Decide if you want to:
Use these roles directly
Duplicate and customize them
Create new ones from scratch
Tips
Use default roles for small teams or quick setups.

Can’t edit a default role?
Default roles are locked by design. Duplicate it to create a modifiable copy.
