How to Configure Estimate Number Prefixes

Overview
Customize the numbering format for estimates (e.g. EST-, yearly codes).

Steps

1. Go to Settings > Prefix Settings.

2. Under the Estimates row, click Edit.

3. Enter your desired Prefix (e.g. “EST-” or “2025-EST-”).

4. Set the Next Number to start from.

5. Click Save. New estimates will follow this pattern.

Tips

• Use year-based prefixes (e.g. “EST2025-”) to easily identify vintage estimates.

• If you need separate series per department, adjust prefixes accordingly.

Troubleshooting / FAQs

• Q: Old estimates didn’t update.

  • A: Prefix changes only apply to new records; existing numbers remain unchanged.

• Q: Prefix conflicts with invoice numbers.

  • A: Ensure your invoice and estimate prefixes differ to avoid duplicate numbering.
